Interesting read: Yitz Grossman

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

The term “Torah” can mean the entire corpus of Jewish law. This includes the Written and the Oral Law, which includes the Mishna, the Midrash, the Talmud and even later day legal commentaries. I found some interesting thoughts, for Jews and non Jews alike on a the Yitz Grossman website, a Lawrence NJ based preacher, who also occasionally cracks some good jokes.

The Torah is teaching us to avoid the pursuit of wealth, since it can be catastrophic to a person spiritually. You cannot blame the son for sinning when you give him a great deal of money and put him in a place full of sin. Since worldly pleasures always cost money, it is the means which most effectively facilitates the pursuit of sin.

It is interesting to note that the worthwhile pursuits in life, are usually available for free. You can find more readings from Yitz Grossman here.
