My Time as a webmaster at an ATV and Motorcycle Dealership

Monday, April 9th, 2012

Today, I’ll tell you a story of when I worked at Team Charlotte Motorsports and Charlotte Honda. I was the webmaster/IT guy for about 2 years while I was in college for CS at UNCC. It was a fun job, got to work with a lot of different people, play with computers, and work in HTML, and javascript. I didn’t get to do any server-side stuff, but it was fun. It also gave me a lot of downtime for me to fiddle with other technologies such as ASP classic, java, shell scripting, PHP, and photoshop. I’ve never been a bike person, and as much as the sales poeple tried, they were unable to sell me on a bike. I did get to sit on a lot of them, they sure are heavy. I did get to ride some ATVs though, that was pretty fun, I had never ridden one before working there. I also learned a good bit about watercrafts, and watercraft safety.

Most of my day was spent taking pictures, writing descriptions, and posting prices and information on various ATVs and motorcycles. I’ve never been much of a rider, so my experience with them is pretty limited, but I do know prices pretty well. If you are looking for a good price AND free shipping, check out GoWarn.com, they have ATV winches at amazing prices, also if you are in the Charlotte area, feel free to check out Team Charlotte Motorsports or Charlotte Honda on Freedom Drive.

When I wasn’t messing with the website, I was maintaining the shop’s computers, printers, and network. I spent a lot of time cleaning spyware, updating software, and cleaning virus’. I was surprised how often people could get virus’ on their computers, it was crazy… and surprising to see what some of them were spending their time looking at on the web.

Until next time, enjoy your ride!

Spell Check Online offers a free spell checker

Friday, December 9th, 2011

Have you ever read an article online, spotted a misspelling and cringed? Did you wonder why the
writer didn’t use an spell checker to check their spelling before they published their
article? Recently, I read an indie author e-book that was plagued with misspellings. The e-book
was actually good, but the spelling was appalling and difficult to read! When online spell checker
software technology exists, why not utilize it? Especially when it’s free!

SpellCheckOnline.com offers free online spell checking that is easy to use.

Step one: Copy and paste the text you want Spell Check Online to check
for spelling errors. Click the ABC check mark to begin.

Step two: Review any words that Spell Check Online underlines in red as
a misspelled word.

Step three: Correct any misspellings using the suggestions that Spell Check
Online makes or…

Step four: Ignore the suggestions that the online spell checking tool makes if
it’s a common name or slang that the online spell checking software technology does not recognize

Step five: Copy and paste your corrected text back to your document!

It’s that easy to make sure that your document is run through the online spell checker and that
the spellings are perfect. Don’t let a misspelling stand out like the proverbial sore thumb. Don’t
turn in a paper at school with misspellings, the grade for your paper will suffer. Don’t turn in
an article to your editor with misspelled words, you will only look careless. Using an online
spell checker is the solution to your spell checking needs!
